Virgin Media Pioneers commended for Best Community Impact programme
10 July 2013
The Ethical Corporation recently held their forth annual Responsible Business Awards ceremony in central London, with Virgin Media Pioneers making an appearance as one of the nominees for the Best Community Impact Programme in the UK. As Head of Virgin Media’s Brand for Good Team, I thought I’d share some of the highlights of the awards ceremony with you…
The Ethical Corporation’s Responsible Business Awards is a prestigious event in the global sustainability calendar and this year’s event saw entries from over 300 companies across the world. The aim of the awards is to recognise companies and NGOs who are leading the pack in tackling serious global challenges and so we were delighted that Virgin Media Pioneers was nominated for Best Community Impact programme.
We’re proud to announce that on the night, we were awarded a Highly Commended status for the impact of our programme, which supports 5000 aspiring entrepreneurs on their journey to build successful businesses. Virgin Media fought off fierce competition from big businesses including BSkyB, Coca-cola Enterprises and GlaxoSmithKline, but ultimately we came runner up to a worthy winner in The Co-operative, who have employed more than 1200 apprentices through their community investment programme.
