As well as investing in ways to help people get the best out of digital technology, Virgin Media is committed to helping our people directly support local communities. Our teams are spread across the UK and get stuck in supporting local causes and concerns where they live and work.


Virgin Media charity day

In 2012, Virgin Media staff raised over £60,000 for 93 elected local charities in a single day – Virgin Media charity day. On top of this, our staff gave over 1000 volunteering days to support organisations including Naomi House, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and St Michael’s Hospice.


In November 2012, men at Virgin Media joined millions across the world in sacrificing their upper lips and becoming walking, talking billboards in order to raise funds and much needed awareness around prostate cancer. With Mo Farrah as the official ambassador, the Movember campaign was a huge success. 548 men and women joined the Movember community, raising a massive £40,735 and resulting in Virgin Media being ranked the 5th highest fundraising company in the whole of the UK for Movember.

Develop digital solutions to drive increased staff engagement, such as incentivising staff to shout about their volunteering and giving activities through their own social media profiles.


We launched Blue Dots, an online initiative that enables our staff to shout about their charity involvement on their social networks.
