Meeting our senior women
We introduce some of our senior women to hear their perspectives on their own career choices and what it's like to work at Virgin Media.
This year, we have started to focus on improving the gender balance across our business to better reflect our customer base and in line with our diversity policies and principles. Helping to make sure we're on track is Lucy Otter, our People Director responsible for Diversity, Employee Relations & Policy. Lucy recently caught up with some of the senior women within our business to hear their perspectives on their own career choices and what it's like to work at Virgin Media.
To ensure we keep focused on improving the gender balance of our business, we’ve set ourselves some challenging targets, including:
- Leadership: Work towards ensuring that the composition of our leadership teams across the business reflect the overall gender balance in each area (by the end of 2013)
- Talent Development: Strive for an equal gender balance among those employees that we prioritise for talent development (by the end of 2013)
- Service Technicians and Installation Teams: Aim to employ 50 females across our service technicians and installation teams to provide a better representation across our workforce (by the end of 2012)
- Recruitment: Encourage more female applications for roles in the traditionally ‘hard to attract’ areas of our business, such as engineering, by guaranteeing interviews for women who meet the minimum role requirements
