Control Shift: The Rise of Young Entrepreneurs - the official report
With the support of Sir Richard Branson, Virgin Media Pioneers release an insightful new report
Control Shift calls on the government and big business to do more to support the next generation of entrepreneurs. At a time when youth unemployment is high on the political agenda, the new report helps to put young people back at the centre of the conversation about their futures.
On the day the report was published, representatives of the Virgin Media Pioneers community were lucky enough to meet Richard Branson at the launch of his latest book, Screw Business as Usual. In the same venue later that day, attendees from the Virgin Media Pioneers online community, government representatives, media and entrepreneurs gathered at Hub Westminster to hear from those directly involved in shaping the new report.
Throughout an eight week campaign, Virgin Media Pioneers have been working closely with members of the programme who've been given a platform to present their views to the Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, and matched with mentors, such as the successful entrepreneurs Joe Cohen (Seatwave), Priya Lakhani (Masala Masala) and Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones (The Black Farmer).
It was a fantastic evening that celebrated the enormous entrepreneurial talent within the UK, and marks a definite step in the right direction, providing policy makers with real, actionable solutions to help nurture the next generation of young entrepreneurs.
