Our people in the local community
Read about how we help our employees to support the causes they’re passionate about.
As well as investing in ways to deliver digital benefits to people across the UK, Virgin Media is also committed to helping its people directly support local communities. Our teams are spread across the UK and care passionately about helping address local causes and concerns where they live and work.
We’ve established a dedicated network of Charity Champions across our business who work hard to engage people in their region in charitable activities, from raffles and cake sales to sky dives and marathons! Our Champions work with employees in their region to nominate local charities that particularly matter to our teams, and the business then matches, on a pound for pound basis, all funds raised for these charities (up to an agreed limit).
We currently support over 40 local charities and organisations across the business and employees have been busy throughout 2010 supporting them in a variety of ways. We've had Easter eggs donated to local communities at Easter, unwanted bras collected at our head office in Hook for the Isle of Wight Air Ambulance service and 12 employees based in Glenrothes ran the Harry Haggis Relay Race in Edinburgh to raise money for both the SSPCA and Maggie's - to name but a few!
Virgin Media also gives every employee the opportunity to spend a day a year helping a local charity or cause that matters to them. Our people can also give to any cause of their choice through their payroll.
