About Virgin Media

We’re committed to creating a sustainable business, inside out, top to bottom. That’s why accountability for delivering our sustainability objectives sits directly with our business divisions.

Accountability for sustainability goes right to the top

Our Sustainability Committee, which oversees the delivery of our sustainability priorities, is chaired by our CEO, Tom Mockridge. It also comprises the people in charge of each business division who get together as part of wider Executive Committee meetings. Supported by our Sustainability team, the committee meets regularly to review our performance in delivering our strategy and discuss key issues.

Managing our environmental impacts

The day-to-day management of our environmental impacts is driven by our business functions. For example, our fleet manager is responsible for improving the environmental impact of our company vehicles, while our Logistics team is responsible for ensuring that our electrical waste gets disposed or reused correctly. The role of the Sustainability team is to facilitate and communicate our progress as we become a more sustainable business.

Working with Liberty Global, our parent company

At Liberty Global, corporate responsibility is governed by a Corporate Responsibility Committee that meets regularly and reports to Michael Fries, President and CEO of Liberty Global.
Since Liberty Global became our parent company in 2013, Virgin Media’s Sustainability team has worked closely with the Liberty Global Corporate Responsibility team to make sure all our activity is aligned. For example, in 2014 our Procurement functions were brought together, which gave us the opportunity to align our Supplier Code of Conduct and the approach we take to managing our supply chains responsibly.
